This is not a weight loss blog
A lot of people who are trying to lose weight write about it on their blogs. I guess that’s because it is hard and consumes a lot of your time and thoughts. I haven’t written much about it here for the simple fact that I feel like it is kind of boring, hell I don’t even want to hear my own thoughts about it some days.
I read this somewhere and I thought it summed it all up beautifully:
“Weight gain is unintentional and convenient, weight loss is intentional and inconvenient.”
That is pretty much how it goes. Oh, and it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r.
Anyway, I guess I have some good news to report. I am no longer obese. Yes, according to my BMI score I have proudly entered the ranks of the merely overweight. Awesome. 30 lbs and 5 BMI points down, half way there. I’ll let you know when the other half of this epic struggle is over, and I am “normal”.

"Normal is as normal does." (Something like that, I think the saying goes.)
Good post, Shan, and good for you! Here's to your continued good health!

Holly Does Vegas
Way to go!!
Congratulations! That is a tremendous success thus far.
Losing weight is a major hassle, time consuming, and frustrating as hell.
i hate dieting. i lost 4 pounds (not easy to do when you're slightly overwieght), drank, ate taco bell, a pizza and a pint of b&j's and gained it all back. but the worst part is i worked out for 2 weeks, watched what i ate, etc., to lose those 4 pounds and one full day of bad behavior, it comes right back??? fuck that!
i hate hollywood. it's all their fault.
according to those stupid charts, i am obese. it's not my fault i have big boobs and a hereditarily/genetically perky booty . . . but i do have some stuff around the middle that should probably go . . .
good luck! let us know when the goal has been reached! we can celebrate by eating celery sticks!
TK – losing 4 lbs in two weeks is breakneck speed! Way to go. I wouldn’t worry about the 4 lbs coming back so quickly, you had a lot of sodium in all that stuff and that will make you hold water like nothin’ else. I’ve “gained” 6 lbs overnight before, no lie. To actually gain 4 lbs you would have to consume 14,000 calories more than you expended. Now I may be underestimating you, but I doubt you did that in one day.
Tabs: It’s funny you mention celery because it is one of the very few vegetables I don’t eat. The others being radishes and pickles, or anything pickled anything for that matter. How about some carrot sticks and cherry tomatoes?
Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I haven’t lost a pound in maybe 5 or 6 weeks, so it’s good to remember how far I’ve come and not to get too down about it. I’ve been sick for the past couple of days, so I’m been on the soup and oyster cracker diet. I am not so happy to be back in the office right now. I came in and caught up with all the really important stuff, but now I just want to go back to bed. I have no motivation to sit through this afternoon meeting. Maybe if I doze off no one will be offended, because after all I’m under the weather.
Stay tuned for pictures from last weekend, including chocolate cake…mmmm…chocolate. *drool*
YAY....congrats. What an accomplishment!
