Vegan Food Porn

My new obsession, Chana Masala.

I made a pretty kick ass vegan chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for TBone’s birthday. Happy Birthday TBone!

I had leftover icing so I made some healthy substitutions and baked some cupcakes. Believe it or not these cupcakes are whole wheat, sugar free, egg and dairy free, low-fat, and very delicious. There’s still no excuse for that frosting. So evil.

If veganmania.com is ever up and running again you can look up the recipe there.

Someone should call the toppings police on me.

I have an herb garden. Ok, there are only two herbs so far…but it’s a start. Dog is also growing in nicely.

My new favorite t-shirt, courtesy of targét boutique:

Jason left for China this morning! The airline bumped their flight up an hour earlier on short notice and didn’t notify anyone. I don’t understand how they can get away with that crap. They made their flight, but really who needs to deal with that? Traveling is stressful enough. My new passport came in the mail, I look like a total zombie in the picture. And really old somehow.

Three day weekend wooooo!

Shopping! Bye bye $$$

OK, I’ve spent about a bazillion dollars on clothes in the last couple of weeks. I finally went to David’s Bridal in Torrance, which is kind of ghetto and not really all that fun to drive to. I fitted and ordered my halter top, skirt and shoes for my little sister’s wedding in October. I can pick them up in August, I have no idea why this takes so long, apparently this hot stuff is in demand and in short supply?

The dress is actually chocolate brown, not black, so use your imagination. The ribbons on those kicky little shoes will be brown to match. My cousin picked out the shoes, I am not a big fan for 4 reasons: 1) there is a heel 2) there is no ankle strap to keep them on my feet 3) bow – pretty self explanatory 4) so narrow I had to order a size 10 so I feel like a freakish bigfoot. But hey, at least the rest of the getup isn’t hideous! I just hope I don’t fall.

Last Saturday I spent 6 hours shopping for clothes for work and my vacation (less than 2 weeks away!) and a swimsuit. Why is it that when you go shopping with some specific things in mind all you can find are more of the things that you already have? At Target I found about 6 different cute skirts that I wanted to buy, but I have no shortage of skirts so I made myself buy only 2. I have the rather fortunate problem of having lost weight and not knowing what size I am anymore. Apparently my bottom is about 2 full sizes smaller than my top now. You can imagine what this translates to when you’re searching high and low for suitable swim wear. I finally did find a tankini that will do. I hope the top is as secure as I thought it was in the dressing room, otherwise I will have a hilarious/mortifying story to tell about playing beach volleyball or something.

Jason is leaving for China with his momma on Thursday! I’m going to miss him but I’m also very excited for him. All this traveling is pretty exciting, I can’t wait for vacation!

We need to talk about your TPS reports…

…and your taste in music. One of my supervisors has been listening to Sarah McLachlan’s “Arms of an Angel” several times a day in his office, is it just me or is that a bit weird?

I am sick of being sick. I haven’t been to the gym in a week. And I still have a cough and a stuffy nose. I have to shop for a swimsuit this weekend (shoot me now). OK, I’m done whining. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

I will leave you with this picture of a baboon hugging a kitty:

Happy Friday!

This is not a weight loss blog

A lot of people who are trying to lose weight write about it on their blogs. I guess that’s because it is hard and consumes a lot of your time and thoughts. I haven’t written much about it here for the simple fact that I feel like it is kind of boring, hell I don’t even want to hear my own thoughts about it some days.

I read this somewhere and I thought it summed it all up beautifully:
“Weight gain is unintentional and convenient, weight loss is intentional and inconvenient.”

That is pretty much how it goes. Oh, and it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Anyway, I guess I have some good news to report. I am no longer obese. Yes, according to my BMI score I have proudly entered the ranks of the merely overweight. Awesome. 30 lbs and 5 BMI points down, half way there. I’ll let you know when the other half of this epic struggle is over, and I am “normal”.

Reason # 2957694 our consultants rock! (or like theirs on the rocks)

E-mail exchange:

Me (in response to an actual work related question (yes I do actual work sometimes)): Thanks, that's fine if sustainers are getting tanked for gifts that are made in addition to their SP gifts.

Consultant: Don't you just hate it when donors get tanked? Just kidding. I liked your little typo... ;)

M: I know, I'm a riot. It must be almost Cinco de Mayo...Margaritas for all!

C: Excellent! I was thinking of getting tanked later this evening!
Margaritas would be good...

Hope you're having a good day.

I’ll be having a better day tomorrow, when it’s Friday and Cinco de Mayo. Is it just me or is the time between weekends actually expanding in some sort of office soul-sucking time vortex?

Because this is an educational blog, please visit this link to learn about the wonderful tradition of Cinco de Mayo. If you’re getting tanked, you should know why!
